Barnes & Thornburg Represents Renowned Music Producer in Recent High-Profile Projects

Barnes & Thornburg announced today that the firm represented multiple Grammy- and Oscar-winning music producer, T Bone Burnett, in connection with two recent high-profile projects: Lionsgate’s engagement of Burnett to provide executive music producer services for the film The Hunger Games and to produce its companion album The Hunger Games: Soundtrack, Songs from District 12 and Beyond, and Elton John’s hiring of Burnett to produce John’s forthcoming studio album, The Diving Board.

Sidney S. Fohrman, a Los Angeles-based Barnes & Thornburg attorney and member of the firm’s Entertainment and Music Practice Group, represented T Bone Burnett in the negotiation of these deals.

Richmond, Va. — Virginia’s legislature has just voted to sell naming rights to some of the state’s roads, and PETA is hoping to be one of the first to take advantage of the new opportunity by encouraging residents to drive their dogs and cats to a veterinary clinic. In a letter sent today to the chairperson of the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB), PETA, whose headquarters is in Norfolk, requests a reduced rate to rename a road “Spay Today Way.” Fixing roadways prevents accidents, and fixing cats and dogs does, too: People can prevent more homeless animals from ending up on Virginia’s streets or crowded into Virginia’s animal shelters, where taxpayers must pay for their care and, regrettably, often their destruction.

FBI Recovers Remains in North Dakota

FBI Special Agent in Charge David J. Johnson of the Salt Lake City Division and Chief of Police Frank DiFonzo of the Sidney, Montana Police Department announce a development in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Sherry Arnold.

On March 20, 2012, special agents assigned to the FBI Evidence Response Team began efforts to recover human remains in the vicinity of Williston, North Dakota. During this operation, the FBI received support and assistance from several Montana and North Dakota law enforcement agencies to include the Sidney Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Williston Police Department, and the North Dakota Highway Patrol. By the early morning hours of March 21, 2012, special agents had recovered the physical remains of a female. While a positive identification has not been made at this time, it is believed the remains are those of Sherry Arnold of Sidney, Montana. Further efforts to verify the identity of the remains are currently underway by law enforcement. After a positive identification is made, a news release will be issued. Due to the ongoing investigation, no further details about the case can be released at this time.

Ms. Arnold went missing Saturday, January 7, 2012 at approximately 6:30 a.m. while on her morning run in Sidney, Montana.
